If you are planning to visit the French Riviera, I highly recommend a one day trip to Saint Honorat Island (Ile Saint Honorat), Cannes.
It's the second largest of the Lérins Islands, just a mile off from Cannes town. You can reach this beautiful gem by ferry during all year round. The roundtrip ticket is around €15.
Saint Honorat Island is perfect for hiking, enjoy nature and the crystal sea.
The island is named after Saint Honoratus who established an abbey there in the 5th century.
The Lérins Abbey is now abandoned but still remains fascinating.
Saint Honorat Island is private, it belongs to the Cistercian monks. It is possible to spend periods of meditation and prayer at their convent.
I highly recommend visiting the convent because it's very nice. The monks are dedicated to the cultivation of vines and wine production. Local products such as wine, delicious honey and jams can be purchased on site.
A real natural oasis in the French Riviera. So far from the busy life of the coastal yet so close. On the north side of Saint Honorat Island, there is a small restaurant and a small marina for small boats.
I loved my holidays on the French Riviera. Certainly, this island is one of the places I liked more. Its unspoiled nature is truly disarming. Ideal for those who love nature and tranquillity.
On the island, you must respect silence and decorum. Smoking, fires, barbecue, picking flowers or plants are not allowed. Of course, radio, shouting or loud noises are not allowed either.
The sea is crystal clear. There are many small coves and creeks between the rocks.
My suggestion is to leave your stuff on the first rock available and then sit down in the water and be kissed by the sun!
During summer is very hot, but the island also offers paths in the shade where shelter from the sun.
Pin it for later!
